Three Sisters' Marketplace is an online marketplace where artisans can sell their handmade goods & teach classes to interested shoppers while connecting with each other to create that Main Street shopping experience...online!
Our mission is to create a fun online experience for shoppers and sellers where people can connect with each other, grow their skills and sell & buy quality handmade items. Three Sisters' Marketplace is an interactive web community that offers a variety of hand-made, unique, specialty items for even the most finicky shoppers who are looking for quality and originality.
What sets Three Sisters' Marketplace apart?
Of course there's shopping for jewelry, photography, hand-knit items, original paintings, pottery, sculpture and much more! What sets Three Sisters' Marketplace apart from the competition is that it's juried to maintain high quality and the artisans only pay a small percentage once they make a sale. It's free to join and free to list. Artists, crafters and shoppers can connect with each other, exchange ideas and information about upcoming events and not worry about the high overhead of opening and maintaining a shop or paying to participate in exhibits and craft shows.
The Beginning...
The inspiration for Three Sisters' Marketplace came from family artisans, friends and neighbors who all created beautiful things like pottery, hand-knit sweaters, and jewelry as well as fine art, sculpture and paintings. They constantly struggled with the monthly expenses of maintaining art galleries and art stores and carting delicate items to and from art exhibits and craft shows. Three Sisters' Marketplace is an artisan platform conveniently built online to showcase items and create an art community exchange.
The "three sisters" are actually corn, beans, and squash — and the fact that my husband has three sisters also had something to do with all of this too! The corn stalk serves as a pole for the beans; the beans climb the stalk and help support it against the wind and also provide nitrogen to fertilize the soil; the broad leaves of the squash protect the sisters from weeds and keep moisture in the soil by shading it. The plants and the sisters all bring something unique and creative into the balance of 'three'. The three plants flourish because they work and grow together — just as artisans, shoppers and suppliers do on Three Sisters' Marketplace.
