SisterlyLv's Basket Showcase

Pamela Gail Caskey
Artisan: Pamela Gail Caskey
Experience: I learned to make the baskets in 2009 by taking a class in Zephyrhills FL . In 2010 I entered baskets in the Pasco County Fair in FL and one of my baskets got awarded the Grand Champion. In 2012 I entered some baskets in the La Paz County Fair in Arizona and received the Sweepstakes Award. Which was the highest award for the Senior Craft Division. I am so glad that I took the art of coiling up and am always exploring new approaches to creating different and unusual baskets. I am also a rock hound so I have been incorporating some of the rocks I collect into my baskets to give them some individual appeal. It is truly a spiritual connection to take things created in nature and and create a one of a kind work of art with it. I have no patterns I just create.
Craft: Fiber Artist, Sculptor
Location: On wheels, full time rv person. Sioux Falls,SD. is my list of residence. But you will find me someplace in the USA
Education: By trade I was an LPN and worked for 30+ years. Now I am retired and play with things found in nature. 4 lessons in Zephyrhills FL, then group work and support from folks in the Pineneedle Group on line, other than that self taught. Last year I had the honor of teaching 45 adults the art of coiling through the rock club I belong to. Many of them are now hooked on coiling as I am.

About SisterlyLv's Basket Showcase

Coiled Basket Showcase, I make coiled baskets out of pine needles, and sweetgrass and use other items to embellish them.
The sweetgrass has such a wonderful aroma, when I demonstrated at a Pow Wow in NH folks would walk by my booth and come back because they smelled the sweetgrass. If the smell goes away you just spray it lightly with water and it comes back. The pineneedles are hand picked as they fall from the three, not raked up and tossed in a bag. They are given a lot of TLC for basket making. I use to get my own when in FL but now purchase them from Artgal on ETSY.
My baskets are truly a one of a kind work of art. I never know what it it going to look like in the end as I am inspired to do things as I make it. They are not something that are mass produced it takes a lot of time to make one.
All of my baskets will be boxed and shipped in a cotton cloth bag that I make for them so they can breathe ( they should never be stored in plastic). They will also come with a sheet of how to care for them so they will last for generations. I will also guarantee that if any my baskets becomes damaged due to my work I will fix it at no extra cost to the buyer. In that case the cost of the shipping will be up to the buyer. If you have any questions just ask me.
FYI my materials I use are not cheap, Sweetgrass is $60 a pound and the other things I use can be costly if anyone needs info on where they can buy their own supplies to make their own baskets e mail me and I will share my list of places I buy from. I am always glad to help other coilers get started.

I own a few of this amazing artists baskets. The photos posted don't do them justice. They are quality inside out and durable for generations. The love in them is apparent.
